Unnecessary Procedure Leads to Wrongful Death

Wise County Circuit Court

Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore for the Plaintiff
Thomas R. Scott, Jr., co-counsel

The Plaintiff (who is deceased) developed blood flow problems in her left leg, which was treated by an interventional radiologist. During that treatment, that radiologist elected to perform an unnecessary procedure on her right leg. This led to multiple complications, additional procedures, amputation of the right leg below the knee, and subsequent death. The deceased was eighty years of age when she died and was survived by her four sons. No settlement offers were made prior to trial. The case went to trial and resulted in a $400,000 verdict for the Plaintiff.
