Gentry Locke Adds Three Attorneys: Holt, Byrd and Church

The Roanoke, Virginia law firm of Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore, LLP is pleased to welcome back Partner Kevin W. Holt, and has added two new attorneys; Benjamin D. Byrd and Christen C. Church.

Kevin Holt returns to Gentry Locke as Partner after having served as General Counsel of a publicly-traded technology company. Mr. Holt will pick up where he left off, successfully handling Commercial Litigation, including contract disputes, trademark infringements, products liability, and construction matters. His litigation experience spans several practice groups; Commercial Litigation, Construction, and Employment.
Originally from Franklin County, Mr. Holt received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. Following law school, he served as a law clerk to a federal judge in the Western District of Virginia. He was designated a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Business Litigation in 2007 and was recognized by Virginia Lawyers Weekly for obtaining one of the largest defense verdicts in the state in a 2004 trial.
Benjamin Byrd has joined the Firm as an Associate and will practice with the Plaintiff's Litigation practice group, with an emphasis on products liability and aviation litigation.
Mr. Byrd earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from the Washington and Lee School of Law in 2008, where he was an Honor Advocate and a Vice-President of the Student Law Council of The Virginia Bar Association. During law school, Mr. Byrd interned with the United States District Court for Western Virginia and worked on several high-profile capital cases for the Virginia Capital Case Clearinghouse at Washington & Lee. In 2003, Mr. Byrd received his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the College of Charleston.
Christen Church has also joined Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore as an Associate and will practice with the Firm's General Commercial section, where she will focus on general corporate and real estate matters.
Ms. Church earned her Juris Doctor from the Washington and Lee School of Law in 2008. While in law school, Ms. Church served as President of Washington & Lee's Student Law Council of The Virginia Bar Association and was a member of the Women's Law Student Organization. Ms. Church also served as a student caseworker to the Black Lung Legal Clinic in Lexington, Virginia, and participated in the Davis Moot Court. In 2004, Ms. Church received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia.
