Roanoke's inaugural, sold-out "Souper Bowl" fundraising event may have fallen victim to the winter weather, but two local charities that were to benefit - Roanoke Area Ministries (RAM House) and The Rescue Mission of Roanoke - aren't winding up empty handed, thanks to the support of event sponsor Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore, LLP.
Gentry Locke announced that its sponsorship funds for the Q99 FM Souper Bowl event will go directly to the charities, upholding its commitment to support the missions of both organizations.
"RAM House and The Rescue Mission provide crucial services every day, no matter what the weather. Our donations will provide meaningful support to their tireless efforts to address the homelessness and hunger right here in our community," said W. David Paxton, Gentry Locke partner.
According to Stu Israel, Director of Resource Development for Roanoke Area Ministries, "RAM House is appreciative of this support by Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore and their support of the Souper Bowl. The donation made will help us provide 7,500 hot, nutritious meals to the people who eat at RAM House."
The Rescue Mission echoed its appreciation. "Each day as many as 400 struggling and homeless people receive food, shelter, medical care and more thanks to such support," said Lee Clark, Director of Development and Administration for The Rescue Mission. "We are grateful for each person who gave and especially to Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore for leading the charge."
