Carter Leverette is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group, where he represents clients in complex business disputes, including matters involving construction, contracts, and trade secrets. Before joining the firm as an attorney, Carter worked as a Summer Associate with Gentry Locke. He also worked as a Summer Legal Intern for Liberty University’s Office of Legal Affairs.
Carter earned his J.D. from Liberty University School of Law, graduating summa cum laude as valedictorian. During law school, he served as Submissions Editor for the Law Review, Hospitality Coordinator for the Moot Court Board, and a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board. He holds his undergraduate degree from James Madison University.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a lawyer?
I would choose to be a sports agent. As an enthusiastic football supporter of both the JMU Dukes and the Dallas Cowboys, my childhood dream was to become a sports agent, which ultimately inspired me to attend law school. While in law school, I discovered that representing businesses provided a similar chance to advocate for high-performing individuals facing urgent challenges and significant stakes.

What are some fun facts people may not know about you?
After taking the LSAT, I spent eight months as an elementary school music teacher before law school. The role, which I accepted despite minimal experience, allowed me to support my community and gave me a deeper appreciation for educators.

What's the top item on your bucket list?
I would like to visit all 30 NFL stadiums.
