Who or what inspired you to become a lawyer?
Admittedly, I did not plan to be a lawyer from childhood, rather I found the profession through conscious exploration. I always had a vague knowledge of the profound impact that lawyers have on those they work with and represent (and vice versa), but it was not until I was serving with Americorps that I truly investigated the idea of being a lawyer. I spoke with my brother, then a practicing attorney in the D.C. area, sat in on some law school classes, reached out to former mentors, and ultimately discovered the sheer scope of avenues a legal career could take. Between the potential for exploration of unknown pathways and the unique challenges that being a lawyer presents, I knew I had found the career I wanted to pursue.

Outside of practicing law, what are your passions or hobbies?
Unfortunately, I am a person of almost innumerable interests and insufficient time to dedicate to each, but I will list some of my favorites. My favorite hobby/pastime/necessary act is cooking in the broad sense of the term—baking, smoking, brewing, cooking, concocting, fermenting, and everything in between. I have found that sharing a home-cooked meal with those I care about is truly a timeless joy. I try to play tennis at least a few times a month and golf when the opportunity presents itself. I am (and forever will be) in the process of learning the old-time fiddle. Finally, I put out and tend a vegetable garden each summer—a practice I hope to never forego.
