  • How do you spend your time when you're not in the office?

I love spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, fishing, or hunting. My wife and I enjoy exploring the Appalachian Trail and other beautiful areas in the mountains of central and southwest Virginia. I also love reading the work of great authors like Fyodor Dostoevsky, Cormac McCarthy, Norman Maclean, Ernest Hemingway, and C.S. Lewis.

  • What made you decide to become an attorney?

I love to write, and I love shaping words to convey a precise message. Every day, I get an opportunity to put that skill to work for someone in need. At Gentry Locke, I appreciate the relationships we are able to build with our incredible clients as we help them navigate their legal matters.

  • People would be surprised to know…

Most of my life, I wanted to be a scientist or engineer. Only late in my undergraduate studies did I realize how my passion for writing could be applied through a career in the law. However, I have kept my love for fixing things and understanding how they work—and even for math!
