Kelsie Simpson is a member of the firm’s Plaintiff Group, where she represents individuals who have suffered life-altering injuries due to car crashes, medical malpractice, product defects, and other forms of negligence.
Prior to joining the firm as an attorney, Kelsie gained valuable legal experience while serving as a law clerk for the judges of Virginia’s 23rd Judicial Circuit. During law school she served as an extern for the Honorable Marissa D. Mitchell of the Henrico County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, and an intern with the Richmond Office of the City Attorney and the Virginia Employment Commission’s First Level of Appeals. These experiences provided her with a well-rounded understanding of the legal system that she draws on to advocate for her clients.

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
I come from a family of musicians and artists, so I spend much of my free time on creative pursuits. I play three instruments and sing, and writing and recording music is my favorite way to relax and recharge. I also enjoy spending as much time as I can with my family in Richmond and chatting with my sister who lives in Connecticut.

People would be surprised to know…
While completing my bachelor’s degree at the University of Oregon, I was a member of Divisi, the university’s premier female a cappella group. Divisi was the original inspiration for the Barden Bellas in the Pitch Perfect movie franchise. In fact, our group’s name was used in early versions of the script before the filmmakers ultimately went with the Bellas!

If you had chosen a career other than law, what would you be doing?
I would work in publishing as a children’s book editor, focusing on middle-grade and young adult literature. My love of books led me to volunteer as a reading and literacy buddy at my local library during COVID, where I saw how pivotal the middle- and high-school years are for encouraging a lifelong interest in reading. If I wasn’t in the legal field, I think I would enjoy helping create books that inspire young readers.
