What inspired you to start a small business at the age of 18?
My father owned a small asphalt paving business, so I had the luxury of learning a trade at a very early age. By the time I was eighteen, I knew everything about residential and commercial asphalt paving, but I wanted to pursue an education. So, I decided to use those skills to pay for my undergraduate degree while also being a full-time student. It was difficult to balance, but I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything.

How did your experience as a young business owner shape your perspective on entrepreneurship and the law?
When I first started the asphalt paving business, a mentor told me “work for your reputation, so your reputation can work for you.” That still holds true as an attorney. Reputation is everything.

Outside of practicing law, what are your passions or hobbies?
I enjoy spending as much time outside as possible. Whether it’s golfing, hiking, fishing, or hunting. I love it all.
