Michael Finney is Gentry Locke’s Litigation Section Leader. His practice focuses on complex litigation and appeals, including business/shareholder disputes, whistleblower claims under the False Claims Act, defamation, local government zoning litigation, and intellectual property matters. Prior to joining Gentry Locke, Michael practiced in Washington, DC, and clerked at the United States District Court in Roanoke for the Honorable James C. Turk. Since 2012 he has been recognized by Virginia Super Lawyers and is consistently named one of the “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business magazine.

Lauren Eells is an attorney in our General Commercial group. Lauren primarily assists individuals, families, business owners, trustees and beneficiaries with various estate related matters including extensive planning using various trust structures, multi-generational wealth preservation techniques, business succession planning and trust and estate administration. Lauren also advises clients on matters related to transfer taxes and the taxation of estates, trusts, and beneficiaries. Additionally, Lauren works with closely-held businesses assisting with general corporate matters.

Matt Broughton is a Senior Partner and serves on the Executive Board for the firm. Matt heads the Plaintiff’s/Personal Injury/Subrogation practice areas at Gentry Locke. He is a licensed tractor-trailer driver, holding a commercial driver’s license (CDL) class A, is an ATP rated pilot, and holds a boat operator’s license. During his decades of experience, he has tried hundreds of complex cases in the areas of personal injury, trucking accidents, business disputes, worker’s compensation, and aviation law, many involving millions of dollars. Matt is consistently noted among the Best Lawyers in America® for Plaintiff’s Personal Injury and Products Liability litigation. He is also regularly recognized as a Virginia Super Lawyer in General Personal Injury litigation representing plaintiffs. Tom Bondurant is a Gentry Locke Partner in the firm’s White Collar Defense, Investigations & Compliance practice group. While serving as a Federal Prosecutor for 29 years, Tom tried more than 200 criminal jury trials, many involving complex matters including white collar fraud, tax issues, public corruption, healthcare fraud, regulatory matters and racketeering. At Gentry Locke, Tom represents corporations and individuals in all phases of the criminal process and conducts corporate internal investigations. In 2008, Tom was inducted as a Fellow in the nationally prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers. The firm’s White Collar Defense, Investigations & Compliance practice and Tom are both ranked in Band 1 by Chambers USA. Scott Austin is a trial attorney who specializes in divorce, complex litigation and complicated trial work. Scott has tried numerous jury trials in both Federal and State courts throughout Virginia and the Southeastern United States. Recently, Scott handled a Federal qui tam case in the state of Florida that resulted in $51 million settlement, which is believed to be the largest settlement in the state of Florida in 2022. Similarly, Scott handled a qui tam case in Virginia that resulted in the largest settlement in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2018, $21 million.
In addition to handling high asset divorce cases, Scott specializes in other forms of intricate litigation, including representing businesses and individuals who either seek to protect wealth or who have difficult or high exposure matters.
