On Thursday, February 8, 2018, Gentry Locke Senior Counsel Cynthia Kinser will deliver the keynote address at The Success Project for Women Attorneys, an event sponsored by the Roanoke Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association. Justice Kinser’s speech will address the barriers that women attorneys still face and have to overcome in order to reach the same level of success as men attorneys.

The title of their presentation was “Bring Your Gun to Work: The Concealed and Open Carry of Firearms in the Workplace and on the Job Site.”

Be a Good Dam Lawyer…Navigating Virginia’s Regulation and Requirements for Impounding Structures

On September 15, 2017, Gentry Locke partner Kathy Wright presented a CLE seminar with J. Duncan Pitchford to attendees of an event presented by The Virginia Bar Association’s Real Estate Section. The event took place in Charlottesville, Virginia. The one-hour course was designed to help real estate and general practitioners navigate Virginia’s dam regulations and dam ownership obligations, including dam maintenance, inspections, construction, alteration, costs and funding.

On August 3, 2017 Gentry Locke partner Spencer Wiegard presented before attendees at the 2017 Convention and Annual Meeting of the Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association (VAMMHA). In presenting “The DPOR and the Virginia Board for Contractors; Regulatory Compliance, Investigations and Enforcement Actions,” Spencer discussed Virginia contractor license requirements and regulations, and how those requirements and regulations impact manufacturers and retailers of modular and manufactured homes.
