NORFOLK, Va. (January 9, 2025) – The Virginia law firm Gentry Locke is pleased to announce that partners Michael V. Moro, II and D. Scott Foster, Jr. were named to Coastal Virginia Magazine’s 2025 Top Lawyers list. This award is a peer-to-peer nomination and recognizes lawyers from the Coastal Virginia legal community who are at the top of their specialties.

Moro was named for Business Law, Corporate Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions. Moro is a partner in the firm’s General Commercial Practice Group. He advises business owners and business organizations on matters concerning commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance matters. Mike assists clients in connection with the preparation of governing documents, shareholder agreements, and operating agreements. Moro negotiates commercial contracts, including software license agreements and cloud computing agreements, handles all aspects of mergers and acquisitions transactions, and advise clients in connection with the negotiation of commercial lease agreements. Mike practices in Gentry Locke’s Norfolk office.

Foster was named for Land Use/Environmental. Foster is a partner in the firm’s General Commercial Practice Group. He helps businesses with their land use, real estate and corporate law needs. Scott is a member of our Legislative Affairs and Solar and Renewable Energy teams and handles solar and battery storage land use matters across the Commonwealth. He practices in Gentry Locke’s Richmond office, but earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from William and Mary where he is an active member of the community. Scott became the first college student to be elected to the Williamsburg City Council, where he served Vice-Mayor from 2016-2018.

Gentry Locke Promotes Benjamin R. Law and John G. Danyluk to Partner

ROANOKE | RICHMOND, Va. (January 2, 2025) – The Virginia law firm Gentry Locke is pleased to announce that attorneys Benjamin R. Law and John G. Danyluk have been promoted to partnership, effective January 1, 2025.

Law is a member of the firm’s Commercial practice group, where he advises clients on matters concerning commercial transactions and corporate governance. Law regularly represents clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions, financing arrangements, real estate matters, tax matters, and corporate succession and estate planning. He has closed over $1.5 billion in merger and acquisition transactions. Law earned his J.D. from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and received his M.S. and B.S. from Virginia Tech.

Danyluk is a member of the firm’s White Collar Defense, Investigations & Compliance practice group, where he represents both corporate and individual clients through all phases of the criminal process. John has defended clients in cases ranging from federal healthcare fraud to Title IX sexual assault defense. Danyluk focuses a significant part of his practice in helping clients avoid government scrutiny through compliance. His compliance practice focuses on data privacy and government contracting. He has extensive experience and training in data privacy and cybersecurity.  He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/U.S.) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Danyluk earned his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law and received his B.S. from the University of Richmond.

Chip Dicks Honored with Virginia Renewable Energy Leadership Award

Gentry Locke Adds Two New Associates to the Firm

RICHMOND/LYNCHBURG, Va. (December 5, 2024) – The Virginia law firm Gentry Locke is pleased to announce that Callie Loveland and Teddy Paisley have joined the firm as associates in our Richmond and Lynchburg offices, respectively.

“We are pleased to welcome this exceptional duo of young attorneys who have already been a part of the Gentry Locke team as summer associates during their law school tenures,” said Gentry Locke Managing Partner Brett Marston. “They each bring unique experiences and enthusiasm to the firm and we are excited to see them begin their legal careers at Gentry Locke.”

Loveland is joining the firm’s Richmond office as a member of the Commercial Litigation and White Collar Defense Practice Groups. She served as a 2023 summer associate with Gentry Locke. She earned her J.D. at the University of Richmond School of Law and received her B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. While attending law school, Callie received the National Association of Women Lawyers Award for Richmond Law where she demonstrated academic achievement, professionalism, and the potential to contribute to the advancement of women in society.

Paisley joins our Lynchburg office and is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group. He will concentrate his practice on Commercial and Construction Litigation. Teddy worked as a summer associate for Gentry Locke in 2023 before earning his J.D. from Liberty University School of Law. He is a Roanoke native and graduated from the University of Virginia.

Conor O’Donnell Joins Gentry Locke as Land Use Planner

RICHMOND, Va. (October 23, 2024) – The Virginia law firm Gentry Locke is pleased to announce that the firm has hired Conor O’Donnell as its first Land Use Planner for Renewable Energy and Real Estate.

“Having an in-house planner greatly enhances our land use, renewable energy, and real estate practices. Conor brings a familiarity with land use development and regulation, an understanding of urban design and development principles, and spatial analysis skills related to digital mapping using GIS software to this position and we look forward to seeing him assist in growing our land use practice,” said Managing Partner Brett Marston.

Conor will collaborate with the firm’s real estate attorneys to assist owners, developers, and investors with all facets of land use and zoning, development, and operation of residential, commercial, and large-scale mixed-use projects, as well as renewable energy projects.

Prior to joining the firm, Conor served as a Land Use Graduate Assistant for Gentry Locke while completing his Master’s degrees. Previously, he worked for the U.S. Government Accountability Office Washington D.C., as a Legislative Aide for a former House of Delegates Member, and as a Virginia Management Fellow at both the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Conor holds two Master’s Degrees from the University of Virginia in Public Policy and Urban and Environmental Planning. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Design and Development. Conor graduated from the College of William and Mary with his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Environmental Studies.

Gentry Locke Partners Erin M. Harrigan and Ryan J. Starks Recognized by Virginia Lawyers Weekly

Chambers USA recognized Erin from 2021-2024 as a leading attorney for White Collar Crime & Government Investigations in Virginia, one of the legal industry’s most prestigious rankings and a distinction that is awarded based on a commitment to the qualities most valued by a client.

Erin previously served as Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Virginia, based in Charlottesville, where she prosecuted and investigated public corruption, money laundering, regulatory offenses, human trafficking and fraud cases of local origin and involving multi-national corporations.
