RICHMOND, Va. (October 13, 2025) – The Virginia law firm Gentry Locke is pleased to announce that former Acting United States Attorney Zachary T. Lee is joining the firm’s White Collar Defense, Investigations & Compliance practice as a partner starting on Monday, October 20th.

Lee has served with distinction in the U.S. Department of Justice since 2005, when he joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. In 2007, he transitioned to the role of Assistant United States Attorney, where he has since led numerous complex prosecutions involving narcotics trafficking, public corruption, firearms offenses, and other serious criminal matters.

Nationally recognized for his integrity, experience, and leadership, Lee is regarded as one of the most respected federal prosecutors in the country. Finley, a distinguished executive with more than 25 years of multidisciplinary legal and leadership experience, has joined the firm. Finley will bring her proven record of legal strategy, executive leadership, and enterprise transformation to support the firm’s continued growth and client-service excellence.

As Chief Human Resources Officer and General Counsel/Corporate Secretary at Advance Auto Parts, Inc. (NYSE: AAP), Finley played an instrumental role in the company’s evolution from a regional, private-equity-backed retailer to a $10B+ publicly traded omnichannel organization. She led multiple critical functions—including HR, legal and compliance, risk management, and communications—at various points during AAP’s rapid organic expansion and 10+ strategic acquisitions. Known for building high-performance teams, Finley helped steer the company through complex integrations, multiple leadership transitions, and significant legal and regulatory matters.

Finley also brings extensive board governance experience, having advised AAP’s board of directors for over 10 years. Finley also served approximately six years as an independent director for American National Bankshares Inc. (NASDAQ: AMNB), where she chaired both the Risk and Technology Committees. Her deep understanding of corporate governance, strategic planning, director selection and onboarding,  and activist investor engagement has made her a sought-after advisor on both public and private boards.

In addition to her corporate roles, Finley remains an active leader in civic and educational initiatives, serving on the boards of Hotel Roanoke LLC, Virginia Western Community College Educational Foundation, and the Taubman Museum of Art. Gentry Locke Welcomes Associate Bryan E. Stokke

Prior to joining Gentry Locke, Bryan served as a Judicial Law Clerk for Virginia’s 23rd Judicial Circuit, covering Roanoke City, Roanoke County, and the City of Salem. He also gained practical legal experience through internships with the Virginia Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Gentry Locke Announces Inaugural Gentry Locke Cup

The Gentry Locke Cup is a spirited new athletic competition among four schools in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), each representing one of the four markets served by Gentry Locke: Roanoke, Lynchburg, Richmond, and Norfolk. The participating schools include:

Through the competition season, teams from each school will go head-to-head across a variety of sports. Points will be awarded based on results: two points for a win and one point for a tie. The school with the highest cumulative score at the end of the season will be awarded the Gentry Locke Cup.

In addition to bragging rights, the winning school will also receive a scholarship contribution from Gentry Locke, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to supporting higher education and the communities in which we serve.

Virginia Business Names K. Brett Marston and Gregory D. Habeeb to its 2025 Virginia 500 Power List

Marston serves as Gentry Locke’s Managing Partner and is a member of the firm’s Construction Law practice group. He has extensive experience in construction contract negotiations and preparation, payment disputes, mechanic’s liens, bond claims, construction defects, delay claims, insurance, and OSHA matters. He handles significant construction matters in federal and state courts, arbitration and mediation for general contractors, subcontractors, owners, design professionals and suppliers. In addition, Marston also serves as President of the Virginia State Bar, a post he will hold through June 2026. He has a lengthy history of leadership in the state bar. He currently leads the bar’s executive committee and formerly served on the budget and finance committee.

Habeeb has been a fixture in Virginia politics and political consulting for decades. He served as a Republican delegate for Virginia’s 8th District in the House of Delegates from January 2011 until his resignation in August 2018; Habeeb wanted to devote more time to his work at Gentry Locke. Today, he is president of Gentry Locke Consulting, a lobbying and strategic communications consulting practice the firm launched in 2020. Habeeb chairs the firm’s government and regulatory affairs practice.

In addition to his legal practice and leadership role at Gentry Locke, Brett has been involved in Virginia State Bar and Roanoke Bar Association programs and leadership for many years. In addition to serving previously as the President of the Roanoke Bar Association, Brett has been a member and leader of many committees and sections within the Virginia State Bar.

As of June 30, he concludes his year as VSB President-Elect, and a 6-year run as member and then Chair of the VSB Standing Committee on Legal Ethics. He also is concluding six years of membership on the VSB Professionalism Committee. Before that he has served on the VSB Budget and Finance Committee (2020-2022), as a Member of VSB Bar Council representing the 23rd Judicial Circuit (2016–2022), as a member of the VSB Executive Committee (2021-22), as Chair of the VSB Construction and Public Contracts Section (2012–2013), and multiple roles on the Section’s Board of Governors, including Treasurer (2009–2010) and Secretary (2010–2011).

Marston is currently the Managing Partner of Gentry Locke, and maintains his active practice in the firm’s Construction Contracting & Litigation group, along with a practice defending employers against OSHA citations. He has extensive experience in construction contract litigation and alternative dispute resolution, serving as a mediator and arbitrator in construction-related disputes.
