ROANOKE, Va. (January 4, 2022) – The Virginia law firm of Gentry Locke is pleased to announce the promotions of Andrew O. Gay and Kirk M. Sosebee to the partnership, effective January 1, 2022.

Gay is a member of the firm’s Construction Law group, where he assists clients with construction contracts and resolving construction disputes. He also has experience resolving lien and bond claims, performance disputes, licensing investigations, workplace safety violations, design defects, construction defects, and delay claims. Before law school, Gay worked as a project manager for one of America’s largest, privately held real estate companies, managing commercial construction projects. After law school, Gay served as Associate General Counsel for one of Virginia’s largest general contractors. His hands-on experience in the construction industry helps him to better handle the challenges facing contractors and developers. Gay received his B.S. in Construction Management from Everglades University and his J.D. from Liberty University School of Law.
Sosebee is a member of the firm’s Construction Law group and Business Litigation group. He represents owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals with issues relating to both road building and vertical construction projects, including construction contract negotiations and preparation, payment disputes with private parties and with VDOT, mechanic’s liens, construction defects, delay claims, and OSHA matters. He also represents clients in government contractor debarment proceedings and False Claims Act/whistleblower actions. Sosebee received his B.A. from Patrick Henry College and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Brown joins Gentry Locke from an Am Law 200 firm, where he litigated cases in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia.
He previously served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Henry E. Hudson, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia; the Honorable Randolph A. Beales, Court of Appeals of Virginia; and several judges in the Circuit Court of Henrico County, Virginia. Before beginning his legal career, Brown served as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Marine Corps. During his commission, he received three Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medals.
Brown received his B.S. degree from the United States Naval Academy and his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law.

ROANOKE, Va. (October 25, 2021) – The Virginia law firm Gentry Locke is pleased to announce the addition of five new lawyers. Jasdeep Singh Khaira and Patrice L. Lewis have joined the firm’s Richmond office, and Charlie D. Morrison, Haley D. Santos and William L. Spotswood have joined the firm in Roanoke.
Khaira has joined the firm’s Energy and Environmental practices. While in law school, he worked as a full-time legal extern for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Colorado. He also served as a clerk with the Sierra Club’s Environmental Law program and as a legal clinician with the Vermont Law School Energy Clinic. Khaira graduated with a B.A. from Denison University and earned his J.D. and Master of Energy Regulation and Law from the Vermont Law School.
Lewis works with the firm’s Government and Regulatory Affairs practice and Gentry Locke Consulting, using research and strategy to help clients achieve their legal and policy goals. She recently served as a senior advisor for SIR, Inc. a strategic marketing and communications firm; as an outreach representative for United States Senator Mark R. Warner, serving Central and Southcentral Virginia; and as the legislative assistant to former Virginia Delegate Onzlee Ware. Lewis received her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her J.D. from Regent University School of Law. Lewis is licensed to practice law in Maryland and Virginia.
Morrison has joined the firm’s Medical Malpractice group. Prior to joining Gentry Locke, Morrison served as a judicial clerk for the 23rd Judicial Circuit of Virginia. During law school he worked as a summer law clerk at a Virginia Beach firm, as an intern and third year practitioner at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, and as a judicial intern for The Honorable Robert J. Humphreys, Court of Appeals of Virginia. Morrison graduated with a B.A. from Radford University and earned his J.D. at the Regent University School of Law, where he graduated first in his class.
Santos has joined the firm’s Insurance practice. During law school she worked as a research assistant at Washington and Lee University School of Law, as an intern with a small full-service firm, and as a summer associate at Gentry Locke. She also served as a student attorney for the Virginia Capital Case Clearinghouse during her final year of law school. Prior to attending law school, Santos worked with URAC, a nonprofit healthcare accreditation organization promoting healthcare quality through leadership, accreditation, measurement, and innovation. She graduated with her B.A. from the College of William & Mary and earned her J.D. from the Washington and Lee University School of Law.
Spotswood has joined the firm’s Commercial Litigation group. While in law school, Spotswood interned with firms in Charlottesville and Radford, and he worked as a summer associate at Gentry Locke. He graduated, summa cum laude, from Virginia Tech with a B.A. and then earned his J.D., from the Marshall Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary.

The Roanoke Law Foundation has inducted Gentry Locke Partner Gregory J. Haley as a Fellow.
Induction as a Fellow is a special honor awarded to selected Virginia attorneys, law professors, and retired members of the judiciary who are deemed to be outstanding in their profession and in their community.
The Roanoke Law Foundation serves as the public service and philanthropic arm of the Roanoke Bar Association for the purpose of supporting, improving and facilitating the administration of justice and providing and supporting law-related education. This mission is to be accomplished by raising funds to provide grants and other financial assistance to individuals and other organizations to support law-related educational activities, and to provide scholarships for local high school, college and law students interested in legal careers.

ROANOKE, Va. (September 14, 2021) – The Virginia law firm Gentry Locke is pleased to announce that Roanoke partner Todd A. Leeson was named to Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s 2021 class of “Leaders in the Law” and Richmond associate D. Scott Foster Jr. was named to the publication’s 2021 class of “Up & Coming Lawyers.” All recipients will be honored during an awards ceremony on October 19 and will be profiled in the publication.
Now in its 16th year, the Virginia Lawyers Weekly Leaders in the Law awards recognize lawyers across the commonwealth who are setting the standard for other Virginia lawyers. “Leaders” are changing the law, serving the community, changing practices, or improving Virginia’s justice system, among other accomplishments. The Up & Coming Lawyer program, now in its sixth year, recognizes lawyers across the commonwealth who are making their mark within their first 10 years of practice.
Leeson is a partner in the firm’s Employment and Labor practice and advises Virginia employers in employment and labor law matters and litigation. He regularly defends clients in Virginia courts and before government agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Department of Labor (DOL), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Virginia Division of Human Rights (DHR). Leeson regularly drafts, enforces, and/or litigates non-compete agreements and executive employment contracts. In addition, Leeson has experience representing management in labor union matters including union avoidance campaigns, unfair labor practice charges and labor arbitrations. He also represents Virginia colleges in various student conduct matters including Title IX and sexual misconduct complaints. Leeson was recently recognized by Best Lawyers in America® as the 2022 “Lawyer of the Year” Labor Law – Management in Roanoke.
Foster assists businesses with their land use, real estate and corporate law needs. He is a member of the firm’s Legislative Affairs and Solar and Renewable Energy teams and handles solar and battery storage land use matters across the Commonwealth. In 2010, Foster became the first college student to be elected to the Williamsburg City Council, where he served as Vice-Mayor from 2016-2018. He was instrumental in the adoption of the 2013 City of Williamsburg Comprehensive Plan, advocating for additional residential density in Williamsburg’s downtown, which led to major reinvestment and development of that area. He currently serves on the William and Mary Real Estate Foundation Board of Directors.
